Key Beliefs

Harvest Church Winchester holds onto a number of key beliefs. These are detailed in our Statement of faith.

We prioritise key values in our live together as a church community. These are described on our Values page.

We believe in the Bible as the authoritative Word of God, relevant to our needs, our lives and our future.

We believe that:

  • God hates evil and is determined to eradicate it from His universe. God has commanded every person everywhere to turn from doing evil.
  • Jesus is the only pathway back to God, to receive what God desires to give us, His forgiveness, His friendship and His healing.
  • God is active in the world and in His Church, of which our church community is a part.
  • It is possible and God’s desire for each of us to live in close friendship with Him, and to fulfil His purpose for us to bless our world.

Jesus’ story

Jesus’ life is beautifully described in the first four books of the New Testament – Matthew, Mark, Luke & John – which are written by those who lived with Him.

Jesus’ story is told by Peter, one of Jesus disciples:

“You know what has happened throughout Judea, beginning in Galilee after the baptism that John preached— how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and power, and how he went around doing good and healing all who were under the power of the devil, because God was with him.

We are witnesses of everything he did in the country of the Jews and in Jerusalem. They killed him by hanging him on a tree, but God raised him from the dead on the third day and caused him to be seen. He was not seen by all the people, but by witnesses whom God had already chosen—by us who ate and drank with him after he rose from the dead.

He commanded us to preach to the people and to testify that he is the one whom God appointed as judge of the living and the dead. All the prophets testify about him that everyone who believes in him receives forgiveness of sins through his name.” Acts 10:37-43 (NIV)

Our hope is that you will hear our testimony that friendship with Jesus is real and possible for every person and desire to learn more.
