Leadership

Jesus alone is in authority over His Church. This Church is made up of all who truly believe in Him, from across time, across nations and across languages. This Church is represented locally by a multitude of local churches (local gatherings of believers).

We believe that the Bible teaches that the local church is led or governed by a team of local Leaders (a word used interchangeably in the New Testament with Pastor or Elder). This team appoints a team of Deacons (support leaders) to assist where it is needed in the practical care of the church

The New Testament shows each local church as autonomous (led by a local Eldership Team), but this does not mean independent. The New Testament shows the local church as being interdependent with a trans-local or international apostolic team.

The Apostolic Team is formed of leaders from local churches, gifted as pastors, teachers, evangelists, prophets and apostles. The Apostolic Team works with the local church Eldership Team in building biblical truth into each local church. The local church works together with the apostolic team across England and into every nation to which God is calling them.

Harvest Church, Winchester is in relationship with the New Covenant Ministries International (NCMI) apostolic team. The NCMI team was established by Dudley Daniel in the early 1980s and led by him until September 2004, when he handed it over to Tyrone, his son. There are currently about 200 men and women based in 15 countries on this apostolic team; and there are several thousand churches in over 75 countries (30 churches in the UK and Ireland) relating to the team.

Harvest Church Eldership Team

We believe that the New Testament teaches a pattern of male Eldership. We also believe that the Bible teaches husband and wife as a team working together in leadership to fulfil God’s purpose.

Visionary Elder:

Justin & Alexia Tweeddale

Justin: I grew up in Cape Town South Africa where I was a member of ‘Jubilee’, a New Frontiers church led by Simon Pettit. I married Alexia while working as a medical doctor in Mdantsane, a ‘township’ in East London (not England yet!). We have 6 children whom we home educate. I have worked as a GP in East London (South Africa), Horsham & Winchester.

Alexia: I grew up in Johannesburg South Africa, but fell in love with Justin while living in East London. I became a believer in Highway Community Church led by Derek & Jean Crumpton. We studied together at the Foundation Ministries International Bible College. We heard God’s direction to move to England and his specific guidance to start a church in Winchester.

Elder:

James & Suzanne Payne

We, James and Suzanne, have been married for 15 years and have five children. We live and work in Winchester and have been active members of Harvest Church for 7 years. James works as a Project Manager for the County Council and Suzanne is a busy mother. We live in the Weeke district of Winchester and have an open house. We run a homegroup on a Wednesday night, to which all are welcome.

Deacon Team:

Samuel & Susan Fortunato

We, Samuel and Susan, were born in Johannesburg where we grew up and led lives parallel to each other but never met in South Africa. We met and got married in the beautiful country of Portugal, being Portuguese ourselves. We both grew up knowing the Lord after giving our lives to Him at the age of 6! Samuel is a qualified pastry chef but works as a normal chef. He cooks amazingly well! Susan is a full time mom and wife and sometimes a hairdresser. We are the parents of three beautiful children Michaela, Timoteo and Hadassah. We moved to England from Portugal 8 years ago, when we joined Harvest church, Winchester during its small and exciting beginnings and are delighted to be part of the new Winchester church congegration. We love coffee, late nights and our home full of people.
